Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night indicating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in contact with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a set of images on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. Rice was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
