The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop as a Deeply Strategic Tabletop Role-Playing Game

The gritty world of Tom Clancy’s The Division is being adapted into a tabletop role-playing experience. A partnership has been formed to create a TTRPG that explores the series' post-pandemic landscape. This initiative was revealed, with a crowdfunding campaign scheduled to launch in the spring of 2026.

"This endeavor will bring the series' unique suspense, tactical intensity, and iconic world-building to the table, offering fans a fresh avenue to experience The Division through immersive storytelling and player-driven missions," reads an official release.

Launch products will include a starter set, essential manuals, a GM screen, miniatures, and various premium versions.

Exploring The Division's Apocalyptic World

In this universe, a deadly virus called Green Poison was released in New York City, sending the United States into turmoil. As the pandemic escalates, civil order breaks down and hostile groups rise, turning the urban landscape into a battlefield. To preserve order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of undercover operatives. This is where the players enter the story.

Development on the game has been in progress for about three years, and it is reportedly complete. The upcoming crowdfunding effort will function as a preorder system to access a wider audience, particularly in the United States. Production is slated to begin immediately following the fundraiser, with deliveries expected for later in 2026.

A Streamlined Tactical System: The GRIS System

An early look at the system reveals it uses 10-sided dice predominantly through its new GRIS system, encouraging a streamlined and strategic style. Agents leverage skills or traits to assemble small dice pools, usually between one and five d10s.

  • Rather than adding results together, players select a single “resolution die” from the group.
  • This dice is then compared against a target difficulty.
  • Rolling a natural 10 grants additional bonuses, such as increased harm or boosted support.

Combat Emphasize Tactical Placement and Situational Insight

Battles prioritize positioning and situational awareness, reflecting the source material. Elements like cover, height advantage, or visibility directly influence success chances. This system is designed to favor teamwork and clever tactics instead of simple statistics.

A Thematic Health Mechanic

The way injuries is tracked adds a interesting thematic twist. Agents have a wound threshold; taking heavy hits weakens their effectiveness by lowering the number of d10s.

  1. At critical condition, an agent is downed, but they’re not unconscious.
  2. They may still crawl and perform restricted acts, simulating the "downed" state seen in many shooter games.
  3. Any player knocked down must roll on a injury chart, risking persistent effects like shock or crippling injuries.

A Ready-to-Play Scenario

A publicly available Quickstart Guide will be released soon. It includes a pre-made starting adventure titled Ashes of Murray Hill. In this scenario, the group spearhead the hunt for a lost doctor squad and must thwart an assault by the notorious Rikers faction, who have seized control of that NYC neighborhood. Further information and the full range of offerings are expected to be unveiled near the campaign launch.
