This young athlete has substantial social media presence
Kai Trump will have multiple prominent cheerleaders as she begins her first LPGA appearance this Thursday.
The 18-year-old athlete, who happens to be connected to Donald Trump, obtained a special exemption to participate at Florida's Annika event in the Sunshine State.
The former president, an avid golfer, operates several golf courses and regularly competes against his granddaughter.
"He's quite skilled. I can't reveal details but we play tight competitions," she mentioned.
The golfer shared that Trump, who cannot attend, counseled her: "Simply don't get nervous."
"He practically suggested to compete and enjoy myself," she continued.
"To me, he's just an ordinary family member. He can't make it for the tournament. He's occupied with running the country, so he's somewhat preoccupied."
Being non-professional, Kai has participated in a mere three competitions in 2024 and holds ranking 461 in AJGA standings.
But she can seek guidance from golf legend, who is dating her mother.
"He stands as the greatest golfer in the world," Kai stated.
"Additionally, he's an even better individual. He advised me to play, relax, and go with the flow."
The golfer will compete against several most prominent players in the sport at the Annika, including world number two Nelly Korda, England's Charley Hull, Lexi Thompson and 2023 champion champion Vu.
Officials stated that her participation brings the sport to new audiences, particularly with youth audiences.
Kai has substantial online presence and recently launched an exclusive clothing and lifestyle brand.
Her first tee time at 17:30 GMT.
